Temple Beth-El is within one hour's drive from Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca, and Corning. Toronto and Niagara Falls are also within reach. Educational support is available from the Jewish Federations in Rochester and Syracuse. The Finger Lakes Chapter of Hadassah has been active in our community for over fifty years.
Geneva is a college town with Hobart and William Smith Colleges and the NYS Agricultural Experiment Station of Cornell University within the city. Nearby are Keuka College, Finger Lakes Community College, and the New York Chiropractic College. These institutions attract national and international speakers and entertainers. The 1890 landmark Smith Opera House, also in Geneva, offers live entertainment including a concert series featuring the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. The Finger Lakes Performing Arts Center in nearby Canandaigua provides many summer concerts.
Recreational opportunities abound in this scenic region of New York State with several golf courses, ski slopes, ice-skating, sailing, fishing and other water sports. Several state parks and many hiking opportunities are available nearby. In Geneva it is possible to enjoy the benefits of small town living with a close-knit Jewish community, and easy access to the attractions that large cities offer.
